Meï Teï Shô, kezako ?

In Japanese, this term signifies gastric imbalance due to massive comsumption of rice that ferments into intestins ans leads to unexpected and uncontrolled intoxication.

Afro-Beat, Jazz, Hip Hop, Poly-rythms, Dub, M'balax, Electro, Hardcore.
Massive and contagious groove hammered out with martial lyrics in Wolof, Mandjak, Portugo-guinean Creole and in English. Who cares what went into the pot so long as it takes us off into the trance...

LÔ BÂ

Literally, it's a Songho proverb, in reference to the Central African origins of Germain, the drum-machine of a man. "A man who is born nowadays is in no way different from his pre-historic forefathers. From his birth to his death he has everything to learn and it's not surethat he will learn anything at all." The allegory holds for this combo, that keeps bouncing back to the drawing board, that gives of itself, body and soul, cheerfully and humbly. The choice of this verdict is not without consequence for those who speak of and in the present, while never turning their back on the past in order to build the future.

That is why "LÔ BÂ" follows in the footprints of the past whilst opening new avenues. The singing is still in various languages (Wolof, French and English), the lyrics still decry the shame of a world running straight into the wall, of sad and ruinous times. "Never Money Today" sums them up in the form of a complaint list of small grievances that sound like complete knock-outs. Further down, "Bagdad is burning", like London 25 years ago, in the days of the Clash. A pamphlet set to the tune of bitter-sweet song, of gently rolling melody, of sympathetic strings...

Never forgetting one's rage but sending out the word otherwise: in a way that goes straight to the heart. That is, no doubt, the greatchange in form for those who have never really changed in substance. These days they vary the hues, add sophistication to their orchestration, still as striking, still nowhere near fitting into one conventional slot or another.
At the limits of folk here, on the verge of jazz there, with the constant energy of funk-rock, this new album alternates restrained sensuality, like the call from beyond the grave in "Ghost Friend", with the roughness of a telluric groove like "Love Child". There is only one rule: not to have any.

Never to end up as a set piece, never to water down that mad energy of allsorts, combined with incisive song-writing set to the highest standard.
To highlight it with a few instrumental interludes, to make it ring true and hard times are changing: now is the time to listen to Meï Teï Shô.
